Cat Biting Behavior

Do you have a cat that bites? If you do you know how frustrating it can be especially when he bites for no reason. Kittens bite during play because that is their natural instinct to do so. If your cat has become ill or is hurting, that may be the reason that he is biting. If your cat is biting for no reason, then you may have a problem. Cat biting behavior never gets better on its own and here is what you can do to stop it.

When your cat is biting you:

1.) Thump your hand on a hard surface to make a loud noise.

2.) Fill a can with marbles or rocks and shake it.

3.) Blow a puff of air in her face.

4.) Push your hand towards your cat instead of pulling it away.

The above solutions will work on some cats to stop their cat biting behavior, however other cats that are more aggressive will most likely need behavioral training to end the biting.

You should know that when training your cat you should never use the same methods as you would with training a dog. These are two very different types of animals and they do not think the same, so the training methods used are also different. By learning how cats think and what drives their actions then you will be able to communicate with them in a language that they understand and correct their cat biting behavior.

When teaching your furry friend not to bite, you should always stay consistent and never under any circumstance harm your cat in any way because of his cat biting behavior. By learning what your cat is telling you when he bites and by responding in a manner that he understands you will then be able to stop his cat biting behavior.
